Message from the Program Director

In today’s world, where healthcare needs are becoming increasingly complex, the fundamental goal of nursing science is to develop evidence-based, ethical, and innovative approaches that improve individual, family, and community health. Our doctoral program aims to strengthen the theoretical knowledge base specific to the nursing discipline, impart advanced research skills, and support scientific productivity.
In our program, it is a priority for our students to gain competencies in critical thinking, independent research planning, transferring their findings into practice, and developing interdisciplinary collaboration. Our goal is not only to train academics but also to train leading scientists who can guide health policies, develop clinical practices, and strengthen public health.
The research conducted under the guidance of our qualified academic staff focuses on current and priority areas in nursing. We invite all candidates who are scientifically curious, inquisitive, productive, and aim to contribute to the development of their profession to join us on this academic journey.
We look forward to working together to develop a human-centered approach to care and shape the healthcare system of the future in the light of science.

Program Description

The Doctorate in Nursing program aims to train nurses who contribute to the advancement of nursing science and conduct research activities that will develop the scientific foundation of the profession. Doctoral programs are an important step on the path to becoming a faculty member in academic life. The Doctor of Nursing Practice program aims to train nurses who can think critically, develop new approaches to solving problems, aim to go beyond the existing boundaries of knowledge, analyze and synthesize complex and potentially conflicting ideas to redefine knowledge, contribute to the development of application-based research methods by combining research and development methods, test the effectiveness of nursing models in the management of care for individuals with health problems, apply new paradigms by presenting appropriate evidence, and be sensitive to ethical dilemmas and value conflicts and produce appropriate solutions.
Applicants enrolled in the Doctorate in Nursing program are required to take mandatory courses in addition to courses related to the nursing field in which they completed their master’s degree (fundamentals of nursing, internal medicine nursing, surgical nursing, women’s health and disease nursing, child health and disease nursing, mental health and disease nursing, public health nursing, and nursing management).

Students

Students in the program are in constant communication with their academic advisors and program faculty members via email. In addition, since the faculty members in the program are full-time members of our University staff, students can easily reach faculty members outside of class hours. At the end of each semester, students fill out the “Course and Instructor Evaluation Form” through our University’s system to provide feedback on both the courses and the instructors. All feedback is evaluated, and necessary corrective actions are initiated.
Students

Empolyees

In addition to teaching courses, faculty members in the program are responsible for monitoring, guiding, and advising students. When a Nursing Doctorate program student enrolls in the program, a faculty member from their chosen nursing specialty is assigned as their academic advisor. Students select their courses together with their academic advisor. In the program, faculty members’ areas of expertise are taken into consideration in the delivery of both required and elective courses. Students who complete their courses and pass the Doctoral Qualification Exam begin their thesis work together with their academic advisor. Faculty members who take on the role of thesis advisor meet regularly with students, continuously guiding them both in Thesis Monitoring Committees and in academic publication work.

Graduates

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program has not yet graduated any students. Looking ahead, the aim is to monitor graduates’ fields of work and academic progress, to involve graduates in projects and other academic work carried out by faculty members, and to have Nursing Doctorate Program graduates share their knowledge and experience with our undergraduate and graduate students in clinical practice or fieldwork. Furthermore, the opinions of graduates of the Nursing Doctorate program will be important in the development of nursing curricula.
