Cyprus Research Center (KAM)

The Cyprus Research Center (KAM) is a research center that examines Cyprus’s historical heritage, political and social dynamics, cultural legacy, and international position within the Eastern Mediterranean context through an interdisciplinary approach. The Center brings together academics from various fields—including history, political science, international relations, law, sociology, and cultural studies—under a common research agenda.
In addition to academic research and publication, KAM / KIUKIBAM aims to share knowledge on Cyprus studies with a broader audience through seminars, panels, and thematic events; to strengthen the interaction between universities, the public sector, and civil society; and to develop cooperation with national and international academic networks.

Director’s Message

The Cyprus Research Center (KAM) is a research platform that does not limit the production of knowledge on Cyprus solely to ā€œhistorical narratives,ā€ but also encompasses current debates in fields such as politics, society, law, security, and energy geopolitics. Our Center’s goal is to encourage high-quality, methodologically sound research in Cyprus studies that engages with the international literature, and to make this output visible through events and publications.
While our Center contributes academically to the strategic agendas of the Eastern Mediterranean (such as energy and security), it also prioritizes bringing discussions on social issues (such as women, children, and missing persons) into the public sphere on a scientific basis. Through research projects, academic conferences, collaborations, and publishing activities, we aim to generate a sustainable contribution to both the academic community and the public.

About Us

The Cyprus Research Center (KAM) was established to support Cyprus-focused research, promote academic output, and raise the profile of this work through seminars, events, and publications. The Center follows an interdisciplinary research approach on topics such as the Cyprus problem and peace processes, confidence-building measures, debates on legitimacy and governance, Eastern Mediterranean energy geopolitics, international law, and social studies.
The work conducted within the Center encompasses both internal research projects and participation in national and international conferences. Additionally, the Center serves as a research partner or participant in projects carried out with civil society and international funding mechanisms, thereby fostering a multi-stakeholder engagement space in Cyprus studies.
