General Information

The Software Engineering department is a four-year undergraduate program offered in English within the Faculty of Engineering.
The Bachelor’s Degree Program at the Department of Software Engineering is a 240 ECTS credits, 4-year program composed of eight semesters, each of which has a 30 ECTS workload. One ECTS equals to 25.5 hours of student workload per semester

The Software Engineering department is one of the leading Software Engineering departments in our country and in the world in the fields of scientific research, projects and education, which are sought at international level.
Educates competent engineers needed by industry, academia and society, both nationally and internationally in the field of projects and educational subjects sought at international level.

Program Introduction

The department offers a balanced undergraduate program which covers computer software, software project management, software requirements engineering and computer network and security with a strong background on mathematics as well as departmental technical/non-departmental non-technical elective courses.

Purpose and Objectives

Department of Software Engineering aims to give the ability to design appropriate solutions to integrate ethical, social, legal and economic interests while using engineering approaches. Education helps to understand and apply existing theories, models and techniques that provide the basis for software design, development, implementation and verification. The ability to work effectively in the software development environment, to lead when necessary, and to communicate well with users, that is, to have project management skills is also aimed for continuing professional and personal development by adopting the principle of life-long learning.
Aims:
1. Our associates should be involved in academic / scientific research as researchers on software systems, data analysis and intelligent systems
2. Our associates could work as managers, team leaders, project staff or consultants in software projects
3. Our graduates are employed as software engineers at each stage of the software life cycle to work in the following positions: -Requirements Engineer -System Analyzer -System / Software Designer -System / Software Developer -Test Engineer -Quality Expert -Product Owner.

Objectives:
The mission of software engineering program is to educate software engineers who can carry out studies by establishing cooperation in domestic and abroad and thus contribute to the development of the country and the society as well as to be able to produce effective solutions by using engineering approaches in the software life cycle, with ethical principles and life-long learning principles.

Program Qualification Type

The program meets the requirements by both the ECTS credits and level descriptors of the first cycle degree qualifications of the Overarching Framework of European Qualifications Framework HE(QF-EHEA) and the 6th level qualifications of the Turkish Qualifications Framework for HE (TYYÇ, NQF-HETR). The level descriptors also meet the 6th level requirements of the qualifications of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL) .
Upon successful completion of this program, students are awarded with the qualification of Bachelor’s Degree Diploma.

Assesment methods most frequently used at the educational programs of Cyprus Aydin University are given below. Programs utilize most of these methods in accordance with their educational aims and objectives. The methods applied for assessment of the achievement of the expected program learning outcomes for the entire program of Computer Engineering are shown below and those those for the individual course units are given in the relevant section of the course description with their contribution to the final grades.

The Qualification of Graduation Programs which requires;
Completion of all the courses designated within the curriculum of the programme, having a total of 240 ECTS Credits, with passing grades, and
Achievement of a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Learning and Assessment

Learning Outcomes (PLO / CLO)
1. Gaining adequate knowledge in mathematics, physical sciences and the engineering subjects of individual branches; the ability to implement theoretical and practical knowledge in the respective areas to modeling and solving engineering problems.
2. Ability to identify, define, formulate and solve complex engineering problems; ability to select and implement the appropriate analysis and modeling methods in this respect.
3. Ability to design and conduct experiments for analyzing engineering problems or research subjects specific to the discipline, to collect data, to analyze and interpret the results.
4. Ability to use, choose and develop modern techniques and means required for engineering applications; ability to use information technologies effectively.
5. Ability to design a complex system, process, device or product to meet specific requirements under realistic restrictions and conditions; ability to implement the modern design methods for this purpose.
6. Learning the effects of engineering applications on health, environment and safety in terms of universal and social aspects and information about the problems of the era; awareness about the legal results of engineering solutions.

Assessment & Examination System

Admission Requirements

Cyprus Aydin University accepts Turkish students who have graduated from high school and equivalent schools through the central entrance examination conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM).
International students who graduate from high school and equivalent schools have the right to apply directly to KAU if they meet the admission criteria. The criteria for admission are that exams with international recognition (eg., SAT, GCE, IB) or covers the scores of some countries’ university entrance exams.

Admission, Recognition, and Transfers

Students from Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus can register with a letter of purpose and prospective students from third countries can register in accordance with the admission regulations issued by the TRNC Ministry of Education. The relevant provisions of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus legislation are applied for the candidates who are not included in this scope. In case of transfer or double major and minor applications from other higher education institutions to our university, registration is done in accordance with the regulations approved by the University Senate. For admission to master’s and doctorate programs, the admission requirements in the “Cyprus Science University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations”are valid.
Students apply to the boards of Directors of academic units for credit and credit after they have registered for the recognition of the courses they have taken from other higher education institutions in the country or abroad where they have previously studied.

TEKNOFEST, the World’s Largest Technology and Aviation Festival, to be Held for the First Time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This year, TEKNOFEST, the world’s largest technology and aviation festival, will be held for the first time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Known for its international competitions in fields such as aviation, space technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy, TEKNOFEST brings together the brightest minds from around the world. This event offers a significant platform for students, researchers, and entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative projects and solutions to global problems. At the information meeting held in our conference hall, Mr. Ömür Sayılı, representative of Science Nicosia, provided detailed information about the festival and answered participants’ questions. Students and academic staff from the Faculty of Engineering, as well as students from other faculties, participated in the event. Mr. Ömür Sayılı’s impressive presentation generated great excitement among the participants, and many asked questions about participating in the festival. TEKNOFEST’s arrival in Northern Cyprus offers students and academics the opportunity to showcase their creative ideas, innovative projects, and technological advancements on a global platform. This festival not only promotes technological innovation but also strengthens international collaborations and allows local talent to become more visible in the global technology world. Furthermore, Ms. Fatma Nur Aydın, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Cyprus Science University, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Hikmet Aybar, presented a gift to Mr. Ömür Sayılı.

News and Announcements

Students at Cyprus Aydın University can view announcements made through our university’s education information portal (EBS). After registration, each student is provided with a student email account with the cau.edu.tr extension, and these email accounts are actively used. In addition, announcements are instantly delivered to students via WhatsApp class groups to reach them quickly through student representatives.
