International Law

The Bachelor’s Program in International Law, offered by Cyprus Aydın University, is structured under the Faculty of Law. The program is conducted in accordance with relevant legislation and the TRNC Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TRNC-QF).

The program consists of a total of 240 ECTS credits and spans a four-year duration. Within the framework of the Bologna Process, it meets the ECTS requirements and learning outcome levels defined for the First Cycle in the European Higher Education Area Qualifications Framework (QF-EHEA), as well as the Level 6 qualifications in the TRNC Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TRNC-QF). It is also aligned with the Level 6 qualifications of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL). Students who successfully complete the program are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree (Diploma).

The program is administered under the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Law, in coordination with the relevant department chairs, academic units, and the university’s academic and administrative units. Education and instruction, assessment and evaluation, and quality assurance processes are conducted in accordance with the academic policies and quality standards established by the university.

General Information

The Law Undergraduate Program, International Law Undergraduate Program, and Public Law Master’s Program conducted within the body of Cyprus Aydın University are structured under the Faculty of Law. The programs are implemented in accordance with the relevant legislation and the Turkish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TYYÇ).
KAU undergraduate programs consist of a total of 240 ECTS credits and cover a four-year period of study. Program Introduction

The Cyprus Aydın University International Law Program offers a contemporary education covering the fundamental fields of international law. In addition to compulsory core courses, the program is supported by courses focused on practical application and a global perspective.

The academic approach is based on integrating theoretical knowledge with practical implementation. Through the Virtual Court, Legal Clinic, and case analyses, students develop the ability to apply their legal knowledge in practice.

The distinctive feature of the program lies in its foreign language-oriented structure, strong international perspective, and emphasis on active student–faculty interaction. Graduates are equipped with the qualifications necessary to pursue careers in legal professions as well as in the public and private sectors.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary objective of the International Law Program is to ensure that students acquire comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts, principles, institutions, and areas of application of international law. The program aims to enable students to evaluate legal issues from an analytical, critical, and normative perspective.

The program aims to develop students’ abilities to access legal information, interpret it, apply it to concrete cases, and conduct research in accordance with academic ethical principles. In this context, students’ competencies in written and oral communication, legal reasoning, case analysis, and problem-solving are supported.

The program aims to prepare graduates for career opportunities in the legal profession, public institutions, the private sector, international organizations, the civil society sector, and graduate education, in accordance with relevant legislation and professional qualification requirements.

The program is currently in the process of obtaining accreditation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Department of International Law can pursue diverse career paths at both the national and international levels, drawing on their law-based and interdisciplinary education. Graduates may work in public institutions, ministries, diplomatic missions, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, research centers, private sector organizations, corporate legal and compliance departments, consulting firms, banks, and international project units.

Graduates also have the opportunity to specialize in fields such as human rights, migration and refugee law, international trade, international arbitration, maritime law, and global governance. Provided they meet the conditions stipulated by the relevant national legislation, they may also apply for admission to regulated legal professions such as lawyering, judgeship, and public prosecution.

Graduates of the program may also choose to pursue an academic career by continuing their education at the graduate level. Communication with graduates is maintained through the alumni network and institutional communication channels; feedback from graduates contributes to the program’s development.

Admission Requirements

International students who have graduated from high schools or equivalent institutions may apply directly to Cyprus Aydın University, provided that they meet the specified admission requirements. In this context, the admission process is based on internationally recognized examinations such as SAT, GCE, and IB, as well as the national university entrance examination results of certain countries.

Students

Student representatives elected from among the students convey opinions, requests, and concerns regarding courses, examinations, and academic and social life within the university to the relevant administrative units. The Faculty administration takes student feedback into consideration and carries out improvement efforts aimed at enhancing educational processes, producing student-centered solutions.

Employess

The academic and administrative staff involved in the implementation of the program play a key role in achieving the institution’s strategic goals.
Faculty members actively participate in curriculum development, updating course content, and strategic planning processes through regularly held “Department Academic Board Meetings.” The professional development of academic staff is supported through “Training of Trainers” programs and scientific research incentives. In addition, employees’ opinions are gathered annually through “Personnel Satisfaction Surveys,” contributing to the improvement of the working environment. University administrative staff provide logistical and bureaucratic support for educational processes.

Infrastructure and Physical Facilities

The 40-seat courtroom located within the Faculty provides an important physical facility enabling students to put their theoretical legal knowledge into practice. Designed to replicate the layout of a real courtroom, this space enables students to experience court proceedings. In this context, court exercises and mock trials are conducted to ensure students learn the processes of presenting a defence, taking evidence and adjudication first-hand. Supported by modern infrastructure, the courtroom reinforces the practical training approach, thereby contributing to the enhancement of students’ professional skills.

A Meaningful Social Responsibility Project from Cyprus Aydın University Faculty of Law
As the Faculty of Law at Cyprus Aydın University, we organized a comprehensive donation campaign throughout the month of November within the scope of “Social Responsibility Solidarity,” with the aim of supporting individuals in need.
This meaningful project, carried out through the voluntary contributions of our students as well as academic and administrative staff, sought to emphasize the importance of social solidarity and strengthen awareness of mutual support and community responsibility.

Academic Field Trip to the Ledra Palace Buffer Zone by Students of Cyprus Aydın University Faculty of Law
A group of second-year students from the Faculty of Law at Cyprus Aydın University conducted an academic field trip on 5 December 2025 to the Ledra Palace Buffer Zone located in Nicosia. The visit was organized under the supervision of the Vice Dean, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Direkli, with the aim of reinforcing students’ theoretical legal knowledge through on-site observation and field study.
During the trip, the legal dimension of the Cyprus issue, the recognition of states under international law, and the legal status of buffer zones were discussed. Students had the opportunity to observe these matters firsthand and evaluate them through concrete examples in their real-world context.

A Meaningful Social Assistance Project by Faculty of Law Students
Under the social responsibility project carried out by the students of the Faculty of Law, the collected aid materials were delivered to Son Bahar Private Care Home.
The project, implemented through the voluntary participation of students, aimed to promote social solidarity and increase social awareness.

Students of the Faculty of Dentistry at Cyprus Aydın University can view announcements made through our university’s education information portal (EBS). After registration, each student is provided with a student email account with the cau.edu.tr extension, and these email accounts are actively used. In addition, announcements are instantly delivered to students via WhatsApp class groups to reach them quickly through student representatives.
