Dear Students,
As the Cyprus Aydın University Information Center, we provide you with up-to-date, reliable, and comprehensive information resources to support your educational and research activities. Our library aims to contribute to your academic needs at the highest level with its rich print and electronic collections, effective service approach, and modern workspaces.
In line with facilitating access to information and supporting a culture of lifelong learning, our library services are continuously being developed and updated in line with our users’ expectations. In this context, we hope you will make the most efficient use of all the opportunities offered.
You are always welcome to share your opinions, suggestions, and requests regarding our library with us. I wish you a successful, productive, and high-quality academic year.

About Us

The Cyprus Aydın University Library was established to support educational and research activities. It provides services with a rich resource and service infrastructure to meet the information access needs of students, academic and administrative staff, and to contribute to their professional and cultural development.

Our library offers its users access to books, e-books, printed and electronic journals, theses, audiovisual materials, and academic databases. All materials are classified according to the Library of Congress (LOC) Classification System and are open shelf, making them easily accessible to our users.

The Cyprus Aydın University Library offers free membership to students, academic and administrative staff, allowing them to benefit from library services. Our library collection is updated and expanded daily.

The Cyprus Aydın University Library is located in Block C, which was completed at the start of the 2024-2025 academic year, and covers an area of 390 m². The library provides desktop computers and Wi-Fi access for students. Students can also access the internet using their own computers. The current information access resources available in our library are listed below.

Information Center and Library Guidelines

CYPRUS AYDIN UNIVERSITY
GUIDELINES ON THE PROCEDURES AND PRINCIPLES FOR USING THE LIBRARY AND THE PENALTIES APPLICABLE TO THOSE WHO FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THESE PRINCIPLES

CHAPTER ONE
Purpose, Scope, Basis, and Definitions

Purpose
Article 1- The purpose of this guideline is to determine the rules that must be followed to ensure the necessary order and operational integrity at the Cyprus Aydın University Library, as well as the procedures and principles regarding the penalties of library access deprivation to be imposed on students who violate these rules.
Scope
Article 2 – This guideline covers everyone who uses the Cyprus Aydın University Library.
Basis
Article 3 – This guideline has been prepared based on Articles 12/h and 14/b-2 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547.
Definitions
Article 4 – In this guideline:
a-) KAÜN Student Council: Refers to the Cyprus Aydın University Student Council.
b-) Library: Refers to the KAÜN Library located on the Cyprus Aydın University Campus.
c-) Suspension penalty: Refers to the deprivation of the right to use library facilities.

CHAPTER TWO
Loan Rules

Article 5-
a. Members must present their university or institution ID cards when borrowing information resources. Staff who have lost their ID cards must obtain a document from the Human Resources Department; students must obtain a document from the Student Affairs Office.
b. Information resources cannot be borrowed using another member’s ID card, and the loan period cannot be extended.
c. Users with overdue information resources cannot borrow new information resources or extend the loan period until they return the overdue resource and pay the late fee.
d. The library reserves the right to request the return of borrowed information resources without waiting for the due date if deemed necessary. After the user has been notified, the information resource must be returned within 3 (three) days at the latest.
e. Periodicals, reference books (encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, etc.), master’s and doctoral theses, and rare works cannot be borrowed.
f. Users are responsible for keeping track of the return dates of information resources borrowed from the library. Failure to receive a warning note sent by the system for any reason is not considered a valid reason for not applying penalties for late returns.
g. Three reminders will be sent for borrowed information resources that are not returned on time.
Article 6-Academic and Administrative Staff
a. Academic staff may borrow a total of 5 books for 20 days and may borrow any resources they wish for one semester for use as course materials. If the information resource has not been reserved by another user, they may renew the borrowed books three times for a period of 20 days.
They cannot extend the loan period for textbooks borrowed for a semester. If they do not borrow the reserved information sources within 3 days, the reservation is canceled by the system.
b. Administrative staff may borrow 5 books for a period of 20 days. If the books have not been reserved by another user, they may renew the books three times. They may reserve three information resources through the system. If they do not borrow the reserved information resources within 3 days, the reservation will be canceled by the system.
Article 7-Student
a. Graduate students may borrow 5 books for a period of 20 days. They may reserve 3 information sources through the system. If they do not borrow the reserved information sources within 3 days, the reservation will be canceled by the system.
b. Undergraduate students can borrow 3 books for 15 days. If the books have not been reserved by another user, they can extend the loan period once. They can reserve 3 information sources through the system. If they do not borrow the reserved information sources within 3 days, the reservation will be canceled by the system.
c. Associate degree students can borrow 3 books for 15 days. If the books have not been reserved by another user, they can extend the loan period once. They can reserve 3 information sources through the system. If they do not borrow the reserved information sources within 3 days, the reservation will be canceled by the system.

ÜTHIRD SECTION
Use of Electronic Resources

Article 8-
a. Only KAÜN faculty members and students may access electronic resources from within and outside the campus.
b. Publications may not be copied in large numbers or systematically transferred to personal computers or external storage devices using robots or similar software from databases.
c. Articles, books, theses, or other documents copied from databases may not be distributed in part or in whole via data storage tools or email lists, nor may they be sent to individuals or institutions outside the University.
d. Users who violate the above rules will be reported to the Rector’s Office for appropriate legal action.

CHAPTER FOUR
Rules to Follow Inside the Library

Article 9-
a. Food and beverages are not allowed in the library building.
b. Cell phones must be turned off inside the library building.
c. Unauthorized filming with cameras, cameras, cell phones, etc. is not allowed inside the library.
d. Users are responsible for their own belongings. The Library and Documentation Department is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
e. Talking loudly and group work are not permitted in the reading rooms.
f. Borrowing and returning items must be completed 15 minutes before the library closes.
g. Computers in the library may only be used for educational and research purposes.
h. In case of non-compliance with library rules, the user is obliged to heed the warnings of the library staff.
i. Users who damage library information resources and items (computers, tables, chairs, etc.) in any way will be reported to the Rector’s Office for the necessary legal action to be taken.
j. In the event that information resources are removed from the Library without permission or an attempt is made to remove them, the user who committed this act will be reported to the Rector’s Office for the necessary legal action to be taken.

CHAPTER FIVE
Penalties for Violators
Food and Beverage Consumption

Article 10- Any person consuming food or beverages in the library shall be punished by being deprived of the use of library facilities for a period of five to seven days.
Consumption of Tobacco Products
Article 11- Persons who consume tobacco products in the library shall be punished with deprivation of library privileges for a period of ten to fifteen days.
Damage to Property
Article 12- Persons who damage library property and materials shall be punished by deprivation of library privileges for a period of five to eight days.
Removing Materials Without Checking Them Out
Article 13- Persons who remove materials from the library without checking them out or attempt to do so shall be punished by being deprived of the use of library facilities for a period of ten to fifteen days.
Allowing Persons Without Entry Rights into the Information Center
Article 14- Persons who allow persons without library entry rights into the Library or assist them in doing so shall be punished by deprivation of the use of Library facilities for a period of five to seven days.
Entry into the Information Center by Persons Whose Entry Rights Have Been Revoked
Article 15- (1) A person who enters the Library despite having their right to enter revoked under this guideline shall be punished by being deprived of the use of Library facilities for a period of fifteen to twenty days.
(2) The same punishment shall apply to any person or persons who assist this person in entering.
Obstruction of Library Staff in the Performance of Their Duties
Article 16- Any person who obstructs library staff in the performance of any duties arising from or not arising from these guidelines shall be punished by deprivation of the use of library facilities for a period of five to eight days.
Misuse of Materials
Article 17- Any person who misuses library materials shall be punished by deprivation of library privileges for a period of three to five days.
Disturbing Students by Making Noise
Article 18- A person who disturbs students by making noise shall be punished by deprivation of the use of Library facilities for a period of five to ten days.
Repetition
Article 19- If a person who has been punished for the acts mentioned above repeats the act, the second punishment shall be increased by one fold.
(2) If the same offense is committed for the third time, the individual shall be punished by being deprived of the use of Library facilities for the duration of the current term.
Application of sanctions
Article 20- If a violation of the rules is detected, the Head of the Library and Documentation Department or Library staff shall identify the person and record the incident in a report.
(2) The student against whom the report is filed must submit their justification to the Library within seven days. Students who fail to submit their justification within the specified time frame shall be deemed to have accepted the allegations against them. If necessary, they may be subject to disciplinary action.
(3) The Head of the Library and Documentation Department shall review the report and, if any, the student’s defense within three days of the defense being submitted. If no defense is submitted, the Head shall review the report and any defense within three days of the deadline.
(4) The penalty shall be immediately notified to the student via email.
Appeal against the penalty
Article 21- A student who has been penalized with deprivation of library privileges may appeal to the relevant Vice Rector within two days of receiving the email containing the decision.
(2) The appeal shall be decided within one day. The decision made at the end of the appeal is final.
Reserved Rights
Article 22- All rights of the University administration arising from the relevant legislation, particularly the University Disciplinary Regulations, are reserved.

CHAPTER SIX
Rules Applicable in the Event of Members Leaving the University

Article 23-
a. Members who leave the University due to retirement, resignation, or other reasons shall not complete their withdrawal procedures without returning the information resources they have borrowed and paying any applicable fines.
b. Students shall not renew their registration, graduate, or withdraw without returning the information resources they have borrowed and paying any applicable fines.
c. Members who leave the University for any reason without returning borrowed information resources shall be reported to the Rector’s Office for legal action.

CHAPTER SEVEN
Miscellaneous and Final Provisions
Entry into Force

Article 24- This Directive shall enter into force upon Senate approval.
Implementation
Article 25- The provisions of this Directive shall be implemented by the Rector.

General Rules

  1. For the safety of users and the collection, the information center is monitored 24/7 by security cameras and security guards.
  2. Cell phones must be set to silent mode and no calls should be made inside the information center.
  3. Consumption of food and beverages other than water is prohibited in the library.
  4. You are responsible for your personal belongings while using the information center. The library or security personnel cannot be held responsible for any theft or loss.
  5. Working in groups or making loud noises is prohibited within the Information Center.
  6. Library security may check ID cards at any time.
  7. Users may send their requests and suggestions by email to [email protected] or verbally to the Information Center staff.
  8. Users must comply with the Information Center usage rules from the moment they enter the Information Center. Users who do not comply with these rules will be penalized according to the “Cyprus Aydın University Disciplinary Guidelines”.

  1. If borrowed material is lost, the user is obligated to replace it with an identical copy. If an identical copy cannot be found, the cost of the material and a processing fee of ten (10 TL) will be charged to the user.
  2. Each item borrowed from the library must be checked out.
  3. The user is responsible for books that are lost, have missing pages, or are damaged. The user is obligated to replace the lost or damaged book as soon as possible. If replacement is not possible, the user must pay the current value of the book. The staff at the circulation desk have no authority to cancel or postpone late fees.
  4. If the material is not on the shelf and has not been borrowed by another user, assistance should be requested from the circulation desk. When the material is found, the reader is notified and it is held in the circulation section for 7 days.
  5. The library reserves the right to recall publications when deemed necessary.
  6. Reference materials (encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.), periodicals, and unpublished theses are not available for loan.
  7. Students must return any publications they have borrowed to the library and obtain a “no outstanding obligations” certificate from the library upon graduation or if their relationship with the school is terminated for any reason.

Interlibrary Loan System (ILL)

Academics and students under the responsibility of academics can benefit from this service for publications that are not available at the Cyprus Aydın University Library but are needed. To benefit from this service, you must fill out the form below.

This service involves the mutual use of library materials within the framework of cooperation between university libraries.

General Rules:
1) Our teaching staff can benefit from the interlibrary loan/document delivery service.
2) Users who can benefit from this service cannot make requests for other users.
3) Users can check whether the publication they are looking for is available in the Cyprus Aydın University library by searching the catalog and electronic journal databases at https://library.cau.edu.tr/.
4) Users can request publications that are not available in the Cyprus Aydın University library by filling out the required form.
