Program Introduction
Our faculty embraces an innovative, quality-focused, and knowledge-producing educational approach in line with current dental literature and curriculum. The Cyprus Aydın University Dentistry Program encompasses a five-year educational process that takes a holistic approach to basic sciences, preclinical, and clinical education. The first three years include basic medical courses along with preclinical and laboratory applications, while the fourth and fifth years are mainly devoted to clinical applications. Clinical applications are carried out at the Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Dentistry Oral Health Research and Application Hospital, with which the University has a protocol agreement. Arrangements for clinical practice conducted by each department in the fourth and fifth years are determined at the beginning of the academic year by the Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Dentistry Education Commission and implemented within the periods specified in the academic calendar.
The educational process is structured to include theoretical courses, laboratory work, and patient simulation applications, and is conducted based on current and evidence-based approaches. The academic approach of the program aims to train dentists who are committed to ethical values, closely follow scientific developments, and embrace a sense of service to society. Clinical applications are carried out under the supervision of our experienced faculty members, and our students are well prepared for their professional careers. Employers and Industry Partners
Cyprus Aydın University, aiming to become an internationally recognized higher education institution, attaches great importance to developing strategic partnerships on a global scale. The university aims to play an active role in global academic networks by offering qualified international collaboration opportunities to its academic staff, researchers, students, and external stakeholders.
The educational and institutional partnerships carried out within this scope focus on areas such as establishing joint research programs, developing student and faculty exchange programs, supporting cultural and academic interaction activities, and organizing international summer schools. Through these partnerships, Cyprus Aydın University aims to enhance academic quality, enrich international learning experiences, and contribute to scientific development on a global scale.
Within the scope of partnerships established with employers and industry stakeholders, students gain professional experience by participating in clinical training and practice at Istanbul Aydın Oral and Dental Health Research and Application Hospital in their fourth and fifth years, in clinics belonging to different departments and for varying periods of time. These clinical applications aim to increase students’ adaptation to professional life after graduation and to help them gain competencies in line with sectoral expectations.
Infrastructure and Physical Facilities
The Faculty of Dentistry Laboratory is an educational and research environment equipped with modern facilities where students put their theoretical knowledge into practice. Supporting scientific accuracy and the development of clinical skills, the laboratory aims to enhance professional competence.
Dental Gypsum Laboratory
The Dental Gypsum Laboratory provides a training environment where the practical aspects of obtaining plaster models—the first stage of the prosthetic production process—are carried out. Within this framework, students learn the effective and correct use of hand tools, gain practical experience in working with plaster, and carry out the processes involved in creating plaster models.
Furthermore, the techniques required for casting preparation (lining) are taught within the laboratory environment; the models produced are prepared for casting. In this way, students gain the opportunity to develop their professional skills by understanding the fundamental stages of the prosthetic production process from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
Manipulation Laboratory,
The Manipulation Laboratory provides a training environment that enables students to apply various materials to models created based on measurements taken from patients. Within this framework, students acquire fundamental skills related to the denture fabrication process by applying modelling techniques using materials such as soap, wax and similar substances.
Furthermore, through practical work on plaster models derived from silicone impressions, dentures are adapted to be suitable for use in the mouth from both a functional and aesthetic perspective. In this way, students have the opportunity to develop their professional knowledge and skills by learning the key stages of the denture production process through hands-on experience.
Simulation Laboratory,
The Simulation Laboratory provides a practical training environment aimed at enhancing students’ competence for clinical practice. In this laboratory, exercises are conducted to establish correct working positions on a phantom unit, and tooth preparation procedures are taught in a simulation environment.
This enables students to develop the necessary technical skills in a safe environment prior to practising on patients; they gain valuable experience in adapting to clinical processes, improving manual dexterity and building professional confidence.
