Law
The Department of Law offers a robust education comprising theoretical and practical courses in the core areas of legal studies.
The programme is supported by practical work and social responsibility projects, in addition to core legal disciplines such as constitutional, criminal, civil, commercial and administrative law.
General Information
The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Law, the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in International Law and the Master’s Degree Programme in Public Law, which are delivered by Cyprus Aydın University, are organised under the Faculty of Law. The programmes are delivered in accordance with the relevant legislation and the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ).
KAU undergraduate programmes consist of a total of 240 ECTS credits and cover a four-year period of study. The programmes meet the ECTS requirements and learning outcome levels specified for the First Cycle (First Cycle) as defined in the European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (QF-EHEA) under the Bologna Process, as well as the Level 6 qualifications of the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ). Furthermore, the programmes are aligned with the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL) Level 6 qualifications. Students who successfully complete the programme are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree (Diploma). The Master’s Programme in Public Law (Thesis/Non-Thesis) is a two-year programme conducted in Turkish.
The programmes are administered under the Dean of the Faculty of Law, in coordination with the relevant department chairs, academic divisions, and the university’s academic and administrative units. Teaching and learning, assessment, and quality assurance processes are carried out in accordance with the academic policies and quality standards established by the university.

Programme Overview
The Law Programme at Cyprus Aydin University offers a contemporary education covering the fundamental areas of both Turkish law and international law. The programme is supported by courses focused on practical application and a global perspective, in addition to compulsory core modules.
The academic approach is based on combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. Through the Virtual Court, Legal Clinic and case studies, students develop the ability to apply their legal knowledge.
A distinctive feature of the programme is its structure, which is language-focused, has an international perspective and maintains strong student–staff interaction. Graduates are equipped with the skills to pursue careers in the legal profession as well as in the public and private sectors.
Aims and Objectives
The educational objective of the Law Programme is to ensure that students learn the fundamental concepts, principles and institutions of Turkish and international law, and are able to assess legal issues from an analytical and critical perspective. The aim is for students who successfully complete the programme to acquire the skills to access, interpret and apply legal knowledge.
In terms of professional objectives, the programme aims to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for examinations leading to careers in the legal profession, such as judgeship, public prosecution, legal practice and notary public. Furthermore, the programme aims to ensure that graduates acquire the professional competence required to undertake roles in the legal field within both public institutions and the private sector.
In line with academic objectives, the programme aims to equip students with the skills to engage in scientific thinking, conduct research, and work in accordance with academic ethical standards within the field of law. The programme is structured in alignment with the knowledge, skills, and competency levels outlined in the TYYÇ, as well as the university’s objectives of cultivating qualified individuals who uphold ethical values and possess a strong sense of social responsibility.
Accreditations
The Law Programme has been approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), and work towards the programme’s accreditation is ongoing.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Law Programme can pursue careers not only in traditional legal professions such as the legal profession, the judiciary, the public prosecution service and notary public roles, but also in public institutions, private sector organisations, law firms, corporate legal departments, banks, international organisations and civil society organisations. Graduates may also choose to pursue an academic career by continuing their postgraduate studies.

Admission Requirements
Cyprus Aydin University admits students who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey and have graduated from secondary schools or equivalent institutions, provided they rank within the top 125,000 based on the results of the central placement examination conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).
International students who have graduated from high schools or equivalent institutions may apply directly to Cyprus Aydin University provided they meet the specified admission criteria. In this context, the admission process is based on the results of internationally recognised examinations such as the SAT, GCE and IB, as well as the national university entrance examination results of certain countries.

Admission, Recognition and Transfers
Students who are nationals of the Republic of Turkey are admitted to the Faculty of Law provided they have achieved a minimum success ranking of 125,000 in the ‘Equal Weighting’ (EA) score category as a result of the central placement process conducted by the Higher Education Council (ÖSYM). Students holding citizenship of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are admitted upon submission of a letter of intent; the admission of applicants holding citizenship of third countries is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the admission regulations published by the TRNC Ministry of National Education. For applicants falling outside this scope, the relevant provisions of the TRNC Ministry of National Education’s legislation apply.
Applications for lateral transfers to our University from other higher education institutions, as well as for dual degree and minor programmes, are processed in accordance with the relevant regulations approved by the University Senate. For admission to master’s and doctoral programmes, the admission criteria set out in the ‘Cyprus Aydın University Postgraduate Education, Teaching and Examination Regulations’ apply.
Students may apply to the management boards of the relevant academic units following their final registration to have courses taken at higher education institutions in Turkey or abroad recognised. Requests regarding credit and grade transfers are assessed and decided upon by the relevant boards.

Students
Representatives elected from among the students convey their views, requests and concerns regarding lectures, exams and academic and social life within the university to the relevant department heads. The faculty management takes this student feedback into account, carrying out initiatives to improve teaching and learning processes and developing student-centred solutions.

Graduates
We maintain contact with graduates of the Law Programme even after they have graduated. Students who successfully complete the programme are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree; graduates may pursue careers not only in traditional legal professions such as the judiciary, the public prosecution service, the legal profession and notary public roles, but also in public institutions, the private sector, law firms, corporate legal departments and international organisations.

Infrastructure and Physical Facilities
In the 40-seat courtroom located within the Faculty, court exercises and trial simulations are conducted to enable students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.
Within the scope of the programmes offered by the Faculty of Law, fundamental and supplementary legal textbooks, compilations of legislation and academic publications that students can use as resources for law-related courses are available in the university library.
Furthermore, access to legal databases and e-books outside the university library is provided via the Istanbul Aydın University IP address (exit point).
The Mac Computer Laboratory is situated on a 107 m² area and has a capacity of 52 students.

Events
A Meaningful Social Responsibility Project from the Faculty of Law at Cyprus Aydın University
As the Faculty of Law at Cyprus Aydin University, within the framework of the “Social Responsibility and Mutual Aid” initiative, we organised a comprehensive collection campaign throughout November to provide support to those in need. This meaningful project, carried out with the voluntary contributions of our faculty’s students, academic and administrative staff, aimed to highlight the importance of social solidarity and strengthen the spirit of mutual aid.
Academic Visit to the Ledra Palas Buffer Zone by Students of the Faculty of Law at Cyprus Aydın University
A group of second-year students from the Faculty of Law at Cyprus Aydın University undertook an academic visit to the Ledra Palas Buffer Zone in Nicosia on 5 December 2025. Organised under the supervision of the Faculty Deputy Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Direkli, the visit aimed to reinforce the students’ theoretical legal knowledge through fieldwork. During the visit, the legal dimensions of the Cyprus issue, the ways in which states are recognised under international law, and the status of buffer zones were discussed. The students had the opportunity to observe these issues first-hand and evaluate them through concrete examples.
Meaningful Social Aid Project by Law Faculty Students
Donated items collected as part of a social responsibility project run by Law Faculty students were delivered to the Son Bahar Special Care Home. Carried out with the voluntary participation of the students, the project aimed to promote social solidarity and raise social awareness

Students on the Law programme at Cyprus Aydın University can view announcements made via our university’s educational information portal (EBS). Upon registration, each student is provided with a student email account with the cau.edu.tr domain, which is actively used. In addition, announcements are sent instantly via WhatsApp class groups to ensure students can be reached quickly through their student representatives.
