As part of Nursing Week, the event titled “Our Nurses, Our Future” was held with broad participation ranging from students and academics to healthcare professionals. Throughout the event, the critical role of the nursing profession in public health was addressed through various activities, while valuable contributions were made to support the professional development of future nurse candidates.

The program featured student experiences, conferences delivered by experts in the field, and a nursing exhibition, all of which attracted significant interest from participants. The profession’s foundation of knowledge, dedication, and its direct impact on human life once again came to the forefront during the event.

At our event, guest speaker Güliz Akıner Başaraner, Head Nurse of Girne Dr. Akçiçek Hospital, shared her knowledge and experience through her presentation titled “Leadership in Nursing.” She provided valuable insights into leadership in nursing, professional responsibility, and the importance of team management in healthcare services.

As part of our university’s commitment to internationalization, two distinguished academics from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, are currently participating in a Faculty Exchange Program at Asia International University in Uzbekistan. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda Karaman and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ramona Pasandideh are delivering lectures and engaging in academic activities at the partner institution, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and the development of international academic partnerships. This initiative highlights our university’s dedication to global education, academic excellence, and fostering meaningful cross-cultural collaboration.

The academic staff of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Cyprus Aydın University has achieved another significant success at the international level. A study by Dr. Lecturer Ecem Oksal Güneş, one of the faculty members, examining the use of the Roy Adaptation Model in the clinical care process of an adolescent diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, has been published in Frontiers in Clinical Diabetes and Healthcare, a reputable, Scopus-indexed scientific journal.

The Faculty of Health Sciences hosted a remarkable conference featuring Onur Borman, the first female minister and former Minister of Finance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The event attracted significant interest from students and academics, during which Borman spoke about her career journey and the importance of women’s leadership.

In her speech, Borman particularly addressed young people, emphasizing the importance of pursuing dreams and taking courageous steps despite challenges. Sharing examples from her own experiences, she stated that obstacles can be overcome through determination and perseverance.

Carried out in collaboration with the Pediatric Clinic of the Emergency Hospital, the “Çocuklar Gülerse Gelecek Güler” (If Children Smile, the Future Smiles) project was successfully implemented as the first social responsibility initiative of nursing students. The project was led by Lecturer Asena Aktaş with the valuable support of Prof. Dr. Sevil Albayrak.

As part of the project, a special play area was created for pediatric patients using toys provided through the contributions of nursing students and academic staff. Aiming to boost the morale and motivation of children receiving treatment in the hospital, the initiative brought smiles to young faces while adding a compassionate touch to healthcare services.

The “Çocuklar Gülerse Gelecek Güler” project stood out as an exemplary practice that combined nursing students’ professional knowledge and skills with social awareness. Through this initiative, students not only gained clinical experience but also once again demonstrated the importance of acting with a strong sense of social responsibility.

The Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony held at our university became a meaningful and unforgettable day where our students celebrated the rewards of their years of hard work. The ceremony, attended by a large number of academic and administrative staff as well as students, was marked by great pride and joy among the graduates.

In the speeches delivered during the ceremony, it was emphasized that the graduates stand out not only for their academic achievements but also for being individuals who contribute value to society. After receiving their diplomas, the students shared the happiness of completing their educational journey with their loved ones.

Filled with moments of excitement and celebration, the program reached its peak with the traditional cap-tossing ceremony and concluded with music and festivities.

Students of the Nursing Department successfully demonstrated their professional knowledge and skills during the practical examination.

As part of the exam, students were evaluated through clinical practice scenarios, giving them the opportunity to combine their theoretical knowledge with practical skills. In the realistic assessment simulations, core competencies such as patient care, accurate intervention, and a professional approach stood out.

The students’ performance was regarded as a strong step toward their professional careers and an important indicator of how the knowledge and skills gained throughout their education are reflected in real-life practice.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Ecem Oksal Güneş, an academic member of Cyprus Aydın University, participated as a speaker at the 5th International Mediterranean Nursing Congress and the 4th International Pediatric Nursing Congress organized by Mersin University.

In her presentation titled “Effect of Yoga-Based Interventions on Fatigue, Stress and Sleep Quality in Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Systematic Review,” Dr. Oksal Güneş evaluated the effects of yoga-based interventions on fatigue, stress, and sleep quality in pediatric oncology patients.
