Meaningful Student Role-Plays Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a role-play activity focusing on breast cancer awareness was held under the guidance of Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Aydındoğmuş, Instructor Ahmet Enes Güngördü, and Instructor Asena Aktaş. The event took place at the Thalassemia Conference Hall and was attended by students undertaking clinical placements at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and Pandemic Hospital.

The activity explored the themes of “Public Awareness” and “Fear of Receiving a Breast Cancer Diagnosis.” Through role-play, students addressed the emotional challenges experienced by patients, the approaches adopted by healthcare professionals, and the importance of raising public awareness.

By portraying patients, nurses, and members of various healthcare professions, students experienced firsthand the importance of empathy, effective communication, and teamwork in healthcare. The event highlighted not only the importance of early detection in breast cancer but also the need to understand patients’ emotional needs and provide compassionate, supportive care.
