Guidance and Psychological Counseling
The Guidance and Psychological Counselling programme is an educational field aimed at supporting individuals’ emotional, social, academic and career development. This programme equips students with the knowledge and skills to help them understand themselves, cope with their problems and make sound decisions.
In the GPC programme, students receive training in subjects such as human behaviour, psychological counselling theories, developmental psychology, assessment and evaluation, and individual and group counselling. They also have the opportunity to experience real counselling processes through practical classes and placements.

General Information
The Bachelor’s Programme in Guidance and Psychological Counselling, housed within the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Cyprus Aydın University, offers a comprehensive four-year course of study aimed at training qualified specialists to support individuals’ psychological, social and academic development. The language of instruction is Turkish. During the programme, students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in areas such as developmental psychology, individual and group psychological counselling, assessment and evaluation, career guidance and school counselling. With its science-based approach, emphasis on ethical values and practice-oriented course content, the programme equips graduates to provide effective psychological counselling services in various fields, particularly within educational institutions.

Programme Overview
The Department of Guidance and Psychological Counselling aims to train professional psychological counsellors by adopting a holistic approach to individual development. The four-year (240 ECTS) undergraduate programme is based on an educational model grounded in contemporary theories, practical courses and ethical principles. The programme requires attendance at a minimum of 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of practical courses. The language of instruction is Turkish.
Aims and Objectives
The Department aims to equip its students with the ability to assess individuals from multiple perspectives, to develop their skills in effective communication and problem-solving, and to train professional counsellors who adhere to ethical standards. Our graduates are able to provide educational, counselling and personal development services in state and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, Guidance and Research Centres, government agencies, private counselling centres and various organisations.

Admission Requirements
Cyprus Aydın University admits Turkish citizens who have graduated from secondary schools or equivalent institutions via the central entrance examination administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).
International students who have graduated from secondary schools or equivalent institutions are eligible to apply directly to KAUN provided they meet the admission criteria. These criteria include scores from internationally recognised examinations (e.g., SAT, GCE, IB) or university entrance examinations from certain countries.

The Guidance and Psychological Counselling Department is a key unit within the university that supports students’ academic and professional development through its modern infrastructure and extensive physical facilities. The department features classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology, smart boards and projection systems, as well as laboratories specially designed for practical training (such as counselling and guidance practice rooms). Furthermore, the library, with its extensive and up-to-date resources, contributes to students’ research and learning processes. The seminar halls and conference areas located on campus host academic events, whilst social spaces and study rooms enable students to carry out both individual and group work efficiently. This infrastructure and physical facilities make a significant contribution to the training of qualified teachers and specialists in the field of educational sciences.
