Message from the Programme Director
To be a pioneering and reputable programme that provides education in physiotherapy in accordance with international standards, closely follows scientific developments, utilises technology effectively, and adopts an approach centred on human health; thereby producing innovative solutions to meet society’s growing needs for physiotherapy, and training physiotherapy technicians who possess high professional competence, adhere to ethical values, and are preferred on a global scale.
Mission: Building on Cyprus Aydın University’s student-centred approach and commitment to delivering education to international standards, the mission of our Physiotherapy Programme is to address the growing need for physiotherapy interventions in cases of injuries, illnesses, disabilities, musculoskeletal disorders, and pain and functional impairments arising from various conditions. The success of treatments depends heavily on the necessary interventions being carried out by well-trained physiotherapy technicians.
Programme Overview
The aim of this programme is to train healthcare assistants who have received training in this field, where there is a shortage of qualified personnel in the practice of physiotherapy. The programme aims to train physiotherapy technicians who are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and skills, possess well-developed research and problem-solving abilities, have cultural awareness and communication skills, are capable of using technological tools and equipment, and place importance on human health and ethical values – a role for which there is a significant shortage in state hospitals, private hospitals, university hospitals, physical therapy and rehabilitation clinics, and specialist centres.

The role of a physiotherapy technician;
To carry out physiotherapy treatments in all healthcare institutions
To evaluate the treatment programme set by the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Specialist, apply the specified physiotherapy equipment, and perform treatments such as therapeutic exercises in water to enhance the effectiveness of treatment
Department Facilities
Students undertake their practical training in public and private inpatient and outpatient healthcare institutions and organisations affiliated with the Ministry of Health, as well as in rehabilitation centres, care homes, and hotels catering to health tourism. They are also able to carry out practical work in the school’s well-equipped laboratory. . .
Aims and Objectives
Aim: The Physiotherapy Programme at the School of Health Services aims to train auxiliary healthcare staff suited to areas where there is a significant shortage, particularly in physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinics, specialist centres, and, in particular, spa and thermal facilities. Furthermore, the programme aims to train technical professionals responsible for the preparation, use and control of equipment in applications carried out with devices in physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinics.
Objective: To train healthcare personnel equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for the execution of physiotherapy procedures in healthcare institutions, physiotherapy units and the private sector. To keep pace with all innovations and developments in the field, thereby raising student standards and the quality of education, and thus elevating the profession to the highest level.
Level: Associate Degree, TYYÇ: Level 5, EQF-LLL: Level 5, QF-EHEA: Short Cycle
KAU associate degree programmes are two-year programmes comprising 120 ECTS credits. The programme meets the ECTS credit requirements and level qualifications defined for “Short Cycle” within the “European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (QF-EHEA)” as defined by the Bologna Process, and for “Level 5” within the “Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ)”; it also meets the level qualifications. Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Physiotherapy Technician Programme are awarded the title of Physiotherapy Technician along with an associate degree. Graduates may work in public and private inpatient and outpatient healthcare institutions and organisations affiliated with the Ministry of Health, as well as in rehabilitation centres; in inpatient and outpatient healthcare institutions and organisations affiliated with universities; in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation clinics and specialist centres; in care homes; in spa and health resorts; and in hotels catering to health tourism. Furthermore, they may continue their undergraduate education in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation programmes via the Vertical Transfer Examination.

Admission Requirements
Cyprus Aydin University admits Turkish citizens who have graduated from secondary schools or equivalent institutions to its associate degree programmes based on the YGS (Higher Education Transition Examination) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). Cypriot citizens are admitted via an examination conducted by the university.

Infrastructure and Physical Facilities
The Anatomy Laboratory has an area of 122.20 m² and a capacity of 40 students.
The Clinical Skills Laboratory has an area of 214 m² and a capacity of 50 students.
The Multidisciplinary Application Laboratory has an area of 235 m² and a capacity of 50 students.
The Dental Preclinical Laboratory has an area of 121 m² and a capacity of 30 students.
The Faculty of Dentistry programme and the university library contain specialist books related to the health sector that students can use as resources for their courses.
In addition, access to databases and e-books outside our university library is provided via the Istanbul Aydın University IP address (exit point).
The Mac Computer Laboratory has an area of 107 m² and a capacity of 52 students.

A Meaningful Atatürk Exhibition Opens to the Public at Cyprus Aydın University. The meaningful exhibition, prepared with great care and effort by the Physiotherapy students of the School of Health Services at Cyprus Aydın University, has opened its doors to visitors at the entrance to Block A. Aimed at reminding us once again of the importance our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk placed on science, health and sport, the exhibition was prepared with a rich content thanks to the contributions of our students. The event not only raised awareness within our university community but also once again highlighted our young people’s commitment to Atatürk’s principles and values.
Cyprus Aydın University Visit to Lapta Care Home. As Cyprus Aydın University, as part of Social Responsibility Month, we carried out a meaningful visit to the Lapta Care Home together with our second-year nursing, optometry and physiotherapy students.
