Tourism and Hotel Management
The Department of Tourism and Hotel Management offers a curriculum designed to meet the sector’s current needs, providing specialisation in the areas of front-of-house, housekeeping, kitchen management, front desk operations and interpersonal skills.
The programme offers an educational model that also emphasises leadership skills for entry-level and middle management roles.
General Information
The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Tourism and Hospitality is a four-year educational programme designed to train qualified professionals for the rapidly developing tourism sector. As part of the programme, students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as accommodation management, food and beverage management, tourism marketing and sustainable tourism.
Through the work placements and industry partnerships offered during the course, students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have acquired in real-world work environments. Graduates of the programme can begin their careers as management trainees in hotels, holiday resorts, travel agencies and various tourism-related organisations.

As the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Cyprus Aydın University, we aim to closely monitor the evolving dynamics of global tourism, combine academic knowledge with industry practice, and prepare our graduates to be competitive on an international level. Programme Overview
The programme is based on a contemporary educational philosophy aimed at enabling students to acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge in their fields and to develop the professional skills required to apply this knowledge in practice. The educational process is conducted within a holistic framework that combines academic knowledge, practical courses and industry experience.
Within the scope of the programme, students are prepared for professional life by being equipped with ethical values, legal responsibilities and an awareness of sustainability. Thanks to practice-oriented courses, projects carried out in collaboration with the industry and a curriculum that keeps pace with current developments, students are well-prepared for working life after graduation.
Distinctive features of the programme include the balanced integration of theory and practice, an educational approach sensitive to industry needs, and practical opportunities that support students’ professional development. The programme aims to cultivate graduates who are competent, responsible, and open to continuous development in their fields.
Aims and Objectives
The aim of the programme is to ensure that students:
acquire fundamental theoretical and factual knowledge in their field, gain the knowledge and skills required for professional practice, and develop into individuals who are aware of the ethical, legal and sector-specific responsibilities required by the field.
The programme’s objectives are:
To ensure that students can identify the theories, concepts, facts and fundamental principles relevant to their field. To ensure that they are knowledgeable about legal regulations, professional standards and legislation relating to the field, and that they acquire the ability to keep abreast of these regulations. To ensure students can identify national and international professional bodies and organisations related to the field and explain the roles these bodies play within the sector. To aim for students to acquire the competence to monitor and evaluate current scientific, technological and sectoral developments in their fields. To ensure students can correctly sequence the service delivery processes and operational stages within their field. To aim for the application of acquired theoretical and practical knowledge in solving professional problems. To ensure that students can apply their professional knowledge and skills in accordance with ethical principles. To develop students’ critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Accreditations
Our programme has been evaluated in accordance with the quality assurance and academic standards set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖDAK), and its accreditation has been officially approved. Teaching and learning activities are conducted in accordance with national higher education legislation and quality standards.
Career Opportunities
The Career Development Centre at Cyprus Aydın University offers career counselling, guidance on internships and employment opportunities, and professional development activities to support International Relations students in making a well-prepared start to their professional lives. The work carried out by the Centre aims to help students acquire the analytical, communication and professional skills necessary to compete on a global scale and to build strong career networks.
Graduates of the Department of International Relations can pursue careers in various roles within:
the fields of foreign affairs and diplomacy, public institutions, international organisations, civil society organisations, think tanks, media and analysis centres, multinational companies, and the private sector. Furthermore, graduates have the opportunity to pursue academic and research-based career paths by continuing their studies in postgraduate programmes.

Admission Requirements
Cyprus Aydın University admits Turkish citizens who have graduated from secondary schools or equivalent institutions via the central entrance examination administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).
International students who have graduated from secondary schools or equivalent institutions are eligible to apply directly to KAU provided they meet the admission criteria. These criteria include scores from internationally recognised examinations (e.g., SAT, GCE, IB) or university entrance examinations from certain countries.

Students
As part of the Bachelor’s Programme in Tourism and Hospitality Management, a student representation system is in place to ensure student participation in governance. Students can convey their views and suggestions through the university-wide student council; they can also share their feedback regarding the programme via designated and accessible communication channels.
As part of the programme, regular course evaluation surveys are conducted to assess courses and the teaching and learning processes. The feedback received is systematically evaluated as part of efforts to monitor the quality of teaching and learning and to ensure continuous improvement.

Internship agreements have been secured with five-star hotels operating in the region for students of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality. Through these partnerships, students have the opportunity to gain professional experience by complementing their educational programmes with practical industry experience. Furthermore, to ensure quality improvement, innovation and sectoral relevance, there is ongoing collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including students, graduates, industry representatives and accreditation bodies. Feedback received from these stakeholders is effectively utilised in the processes of updating and developing the programme.

Infrastructure and Physical Facilities
Gastronomy Kitchen,
The Gastronomy Kitchen provides a training environment equipped to professional standards where students can develop their theoretical knowledge of food and beverage production through practical application. In this kitchen, practical training is conducted across a wide range of topics, from basic kitchen techniques to advanced cooking methods.
Students learn, through practical application, the processes of food preparation, cooking, presentation and menu planning in accordance with hygiene and sanitation regulations; they also develop their professional knowledge and skills by experimenting with recipes from different culinary cultures. Furthermore, through practical sessions using modern kitchen equipment, students’ time management, teamwork and organisational skills are also supported.
This comprehensive training programme aims to prepare students to enter the industry as creative, innovative individuals capable of producing work that meets professional standards in the field of gastronomy.

The event titled “Effective Communication and the Use of Body Language in Conflict Management in Tourism Businesses” will take place at Cyprus Aydın University on Monday, 1 December 2025 at 13:00 in the Rauf Denktaş Conference Hall. The webinar entitled “Green Marketing in Tourism Businesses: From Sustainability to Competitive Advantage”, organised by the Faculty of Tourism at Cyprus Aydın University, will take place on Tuesday 28 October 2025 at 14:00. Moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr Tuğrul Günay, the event will feature Assoc. Prof. Dr Mehmet Necati Cizrelioğulları, who will discuss sustainable tourism practices and the competitive advantages that green marketing offers to businesses.
The Language of Hospitality Event
The event titled “The Language of Hospitality: The Role of Body Language in the Tourism Sector” will take place at Cyprus University of Applied Sciences on Friday, 31 October 2025 at 14:00 in the Rauf Denktaş Conference Hall. At the event, Assistant Professor Dr Gülay Şen will discuss the effects of body language in the tourism sector on guest satisfaction, service quality and professional communication, using academic and sector-specific examples.
Today was both an educational and adrenaline-filled day at Cyprus Aydın University. Whilst our students reinforced their basic first aid skills, they subsequently took part in a fire drill, simulating a real emergency to gain hands-on experience in fire extinguishing and the use of fire extinguishers
