Faculty Overview
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Cyprus Aydın University aims to cultivate qualified individuals in humanities and social sciences fields through a student-centered, interdisciplinary, and contemporary educational approach. Our educational programs focus on developing students’ critical thinking, analytical, and effective communication skills by reinforcing a strong theoretical foundation with research, projects, and practical applications. History
Founded in 2013, Cyprus Aydın University has quickly established itself as a strong institution among the young and dynamic higher education institutions in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Having admitted its first students in 2014, our University today offers a multicultural and international academic environment with students from the TRNC, Turkey, and various regions around the world. With its student-centered educational philosophy, modern infrastructure, and quality-focused approach, Cyprus Aydın University continues to develop toward its goal of becoming an educational center capable of competing at both national and international levels.
Established in line with this vision, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has commenced its educational activities to address evolving societal needs and support the University’s strategic priorities regarding excellence in teaching and research productivity. The Faculty aims to build a strong academic foundation in disciplines that center on the individual, society, and social processes.
Since its inception, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has expanded its program diversity, strengthened its faculty of experts in their fields, and invested in academic resources and advisory services that support the student learning experience. Educational programs are structured within a contemporary framework that integrates a strong theoretical foundation with research, projects, fieldwork, and practical applications.

Aim and Scope
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences aims to produce graduates who are committed to ethical values, possess well-developed critical and analytical thinking skills, have an interdisciplinary perspective, and demonstrate a strong sense of social responsibility.
The Faculty’s educational activities include undergraduate and graduate programs that are research-based, student-centered, and aligned with quality assurance principles.
The programs are structured to provide a holistic approach that integrates theoretical knowledge, methodological competence, academic writing, research ethics, and applied learning components.
The scope of the Faculty’s activities includes education and teaching, research and publication, interdisciplinary academic collaborations, social contribution initiatives, and continuous improvement processes.

The undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences have consistently attracted steady interest from students since their inception. As of the Fall 2025–2026 semester, there are 317 active students enrolled in our Faculty, and the number of graduates has been increasing year by year.
Our Faculty continues its educational activities within the quotas set by national higher education authorities; it boasts a multicultural and international student body comprising students from the TRNC, Turkey, and various other countries. This structure reflects the academic appeal and international desirability of the programs offered by the Faculty.

Management Structure

Committees and Commissions
Faculty Board
The Faculty Council consists of the deans of the departments affiliated with the faculty, the directors of any institutes and colleges affiliated with the faculty, and three faculty members elected by the professors, two by the associate professors, and one by the assistant professors from among their own ranks for a term of three years.
The Faculty Council holds its regular meetings at the beginning and end of each semester.
The dean may convene the Faculty Council as deemed necessary.
The Faculty Board is an academic body and performs the following duties:
- To determine the principles, plans, programs, and academic calendar related to the faculty’s education and training, scientific research, and publication activities.
- To elect members to the Faculty Executive Board.
- To perform other duties assigned by laws and regulations.
Faculty Executive Board
The Faculty Executive Board is chaired by the Dean and consists of three professors, two associate professors, and one assistant professor elected by the Faculty Board for a three-year term.
The Faculty Executive Board convenes upon the call of the Dean. When necessary, the Board may establish temporary working groups and education–training coordination units and regulate their duties.
The Faculty Executive Board is an administrative body that assists the Dean in administrative affairs and performs the following duties:
- To assist the Dean in the implementation of the decisions and principles determined by the Faculty Board.
- To ensure the implementation of the faculty’s education and training plans, programs, and academic calendar.
- To prepare draft investment plans, programs, and the budget of the faculty.
- To make decisions on all matters related to faculty administration submitted by the Dean.
- To make decisions regarding student admissions, course equivalency and transfers, dismissals, and procedures related to education, training, and examinations.
- To perform other duties assigned by laws and regulations.

Student Support Services of the Faculty of Dentistry aim to support students’ academic, clinical, and personal development through a holistic approach. Work Placement
Regulations regarding the clinical practices conducted by each department in the fourth and fifth years are determined by the Education Commission of Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Dentistry at the beginning of the academic year and are implemented within the timeframes specified in the academic calendar.
In the fourth and fifth years, students receive their clinical training and practice at the Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Dentistry Oral and Dental Health Research and Application Hospital, where they undergo clinical education in different clinics for varying durations.

Academic Advising:
Each student who enrolls at our University is assigned an academic advisor to provide guidance throughout their academic life. You can view information about your academic advisor through the CAU360 system.
Your academic advisor assists you with the following matters:
● Provides basic information about the academic program you are enrolled in.
● Informs you about relevant regulations and directives, helping you understand your rights and responsibilities.
● Monitors your academic processes, particularly course registration procedures and graduation status.
● Follows your academic performance and development and provides guidance when necessary.
● Checks whether your course selection and course registration renewal comply with the relevant regulations.
● Provides guidance on academic procedures such as adaptation (course transfer), exemptions, and equivalency.
● Monitors your repeated courses and checks your registration status.
● Approves your course selections through the CAU360 system before the beginning of the semester or informs you of any inconsistencies and requests necessary adjustments.
● Informs you about scholarships, internship opportunities, and other opportunities offered by the University.
● Refers you to the Student Health Center for health-related issues and to the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Center when psychological support is needed.
● Directs students who wish to receive information about exchange programs (Erasmus, Farabi, etc.) to the relevant coordinators.

Quality Policy
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, in line with the institutional quality policy, mission and vision of Cyprus Aydın University, adopts an approach that prioritises quality assurance in its teaching and learning, research and community engagement activities. Our Faculty aims to develop, disseminate and ensure the sustainability of a culture of quality by working in coordination with the Strategic Development and Quality Coordination Unit operating within the university.

Infrastructures and Facilities
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences possesses a robust physical and technical infrastructure designed to provide its students with a contemporary and practice-oriented learning environment. Lectures are delivered in smart classrooms and lecture theatres equipped with state-of-the-art technology; interactive and participatory learning is facilitated through projection systems, smart lecterns and audiovisual equipment. The teaching spaces are designed to support both theoretical instruction and presentation, discussion and project-based work.
The Faculty houses computer laboratories that support practical training in the fields of economics, finance and business administration. Students can carry out practical work in these laboratories using statistical analysis and financial modelling software. Computer laboratories available for general use across the university also support educational and research activities.
This comprehensive infrastructure and physical facilities reinforce the faculty’s practice-based approach to education and contribute to the development of students’ professional competencies.
